It is important to support the international engineers of tomorrow. Qualified youngsters should be connected with experts and decision-makers of relevant companies.
To help support this, DWA offers the University Challenges. At these competitions, young talents have the chance to compete against students from other universities and apply their skills.
The challenges take place globally at various IFAT trade fairs. IFAT is the leading trade fair for water, sewage, refuse and recycling.
It was first executed in 2015 in Shanghai (China) and Mumbai (India), shortly followed by Munich (Germany) in 2016. In February 2017, the first University Challenge Eurasia took place in Istanbul (Turkey). Johannesburg will follow in September 2017.
All winning teams from abroad were sponsored to join the 2nd World University Challenge (WUC) at IFAT Munich (Germany), which took place from May 14.-18. The WUC takes place every second year and will next take place in May 2020.
The winner of the WUC 2018 was the team from TU Wien. The competitors from Dokuz Eylul University Izmir (Turkey) and Kassel University achieved the second and third place.
