IE expo China 2017 was a full success!

IE expo China took place from May 4th until May 6th 2017 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). It was able to attract 55.000 visitors from 60 countries, which equals an increase of 28% towards the previous fair, 1.637 exhibitors (+26%) and achieved the, so far, highest international participation. It is Asia’s leading trade fair for environmental technology solutions (water, waste, air and soil) and reached record figures in terms of visitors, exhibitors and exhibition space, which was 100.000m2 (+39%) in total.

For three days, the expert audience was able to find innovations and solutions in the fields of water, waste, air and soil and visit a high-class conference program.

DWA participated in the fair by organizing:

-       Technical Scientific Conference

           - Session 1: Sponge City (120 visitors)
           - Session 2: Wastewater Treatment Plants (110 visitors)

-       University Challenge China

The University Challenge is very well established by now, as it was the third one to take place at IE expo, already.

10 teams of three people from five Universities (Tongji University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Donghua University, East China University of S&T) attended the challenge and competed against each other within two different disciplines.

Within the first competition, the teams had to show their understanding of the connection between water usage, as well as social and economic sustainability on the basis of a fictive environment.

During the second task, the student teams had to prove their skills in researching and gathering information at the fair, focusing on a fictitious employer.

They were then asked to apply the accumulated knowledge by writing a reporting with a pre-defined focus.

The winning team studies at Tongji University (Xu Chengjian, Yuan Zhen, Chang Cheng), followed by the teams from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Ma Hanchen, Ji Jie, Wu Ziwei) and East China University of S&T (Chen Mengfan, Li Jiayi, Wang Lu).

The winning team is going to attend the World University Challenge at IFAT Munich in May 2018. There, they are going to compete against the winning teams from Eurasia, the Arab region, Africa and India.

Participation and travel are both sponsored by the Wilo-Foundation.
