IFAT ENTSORGA with the Local Authorities Day

Energy and flooding determine the subjects

Hennef. New municipal energy concepts and flood precautions are at the focus of the Local Authorities Day, which the German Association for Water, Wastewater, and Waste (DWA), together with the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), the Deutschen Städtetag (Association of German Cities and Towns), the Deutschen Landkreistag (German County Association), the German Association of Towns and Municipalities (DStGB) and the European Water Association (EWA) are organising within the framework of the world’s leading trade fair for water, wastewater, waste and raw material, IFAT ENTSORGA, on Monday 07 May 2012 in Munich. Specialists and executive managers of the branch can inform themselves about new techniques and developments as well as possibilities for risk management. The presentations of the first block of events address the following subjects:

 

  • On the way to energy-independent wastewater treatment works
  • Energy from wastewater – an overvalued or a too seldom used resource?
  • Integration of material management and energetic usage: local heat network supplied from tree- and shrub-cut

 

Emphasis of the second block is flood precautions which, inter alia, are illustrated using the example of the city of Cologne.

 

The Local Authorities Day will be opened by the President of DWA Dipl.-Ing. Otto Scharf and by Detlef Raphael, a Deputy of the German Association of Cities and Towns. It has been possible to enlist the following as speakers: Alexander Mauritz from the Stadtentwässerung (Municipal Drainage Agency), Mannheim, Professor Markus Schröder from the engineering firm of Tuttahs & Meyer, District Administrator Bertram Fleck from Simmern, Dipl.-Ing. Joachim Gfrörer from the firm ARCADIS, Dipl.-Biol. Birgit Heinz-Fischer from the Information and Advisory Centre for flood Precautions, Rheinland-Pfalz and Dipl.-Ing. Reinhard Vogt from the Group of Municipal Drainage Operations /StEB) in Cologne.

 

Conference language is German. All contributions will be translated simultaneously into English.
