The activated sludge process is a unit process comprising the biological reactor with the aeration equipment and the secondary settling tank, both connected by the return sludge recirculation. This software guides you through all necessary calculation steps for the successful dimensioning of single-stage activated sludge plants as well as for the appropriate aeration in a clear and easy to understand way.

Aeration and activation now closer together
With the step away from BOD5 towards COD as a parameter for organic load, the Standard DWA-A 131 made a fundamental change and accordingly our software changed as well. The number of load case calculations also newly required means that the programs Activated Sludge- and Aeration-Expert, which were offered individually, are now so closely linked in terms of content that we have decided to no longer offer the Aeration-Expert individually.
Due to the cooperation of Mr. Fröse in the working group KA-6.5 "Aeration and Mixing", the changes in the new DWA-M 229-1 of September 2017 have already been incorporated into the software. This concerns in particular the new findings on the influence of sea salt.
If you want to use the Activated Sludge-Expert alone, you can calculate the previous load cases:
design load case
proof of nitrification at lowest temperature
max. oxygen demand
special load case
The four additional load cases required in the new A 131 for the design of the aeration can only be calculated with the combination product:
average oxygen consumption
maximum oxygen consumption
minimum oxygen consumption
load case prognosis (see special load case above)
Is my version up to date?
The program itself will tell you that. In the "Help" menue, you will find a window in which the sentence "The existing version is up to date" must appear. If it is not displayed, please start a download. In the right column you find a direct link to the programmer's page.
