Worldwide specialist advice with the buildup of national water associations
The DWA communicates its expertise in countries in which the access to clean drinking water for the population is not assured.
The DWA has already been able to achieve small contributions towards the improvement of water management
- within a GIZ (former GTZ) project in Palestine
- for the GIZ (former DED) in Syria
- for the United Nations in Beirut (April 2007 founding of the umbrella
organisation ACWUA - Arab Countries Water Utilities Association)
- with a cooperative arrangement from a GIZ (former GTZ)project in Turkey (November
2006 Cooperation Agreement with the TBB - Turkish City and Community
Associations - as well as the PMES - Platform for municipal environmental
services)
DWA committees and specialist cooperation
In the Specialist Committee “International collaboration“, experts from the area of development collaboration are discussing the international projects of the DWA.
A Working Group concerns itself with the engagement of the DWA in southeast Europe, another with the programmes for the promotion of young talents. Since September 2005 the DWA has strengthened its international appearances via a specialist cooperation which has been agreed with the German Development Service DED. A member of staff, integrated into both institutions, is responsible for the transfer of knowledge and the networking of expertise of the German water industry with the German organisations of the international development cooperation.
