IE expo 2018 came to a successful close
From May 3rd – 5th, IE expo took place at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) and was the meeting point of an international expert audience, dealing with
- water and sewage treatment
- waste management
- soil remediation
- air pollution control and air purification
Since its launch in 2004, the fair soon managed to establish itself in the industry, by now being Asia's leading environmental show. 2018 was not an exception within the success story. 1.762 exhibitors from 27 countries presented their solutions in the fields of water, waste, air and soil, which equals an increase of 10% in total. The number of visitors too increased notable towards an already successful year2017.
The 29 exhibitors of the German Pavilion were very pleased with their audience and reported a satisfactory fair, both in terms of quantity of visitors as well as quality.
The two sessions of the Technical Scientific Conference were very well attended. Session 1 “Watershed management and decentralized wastewater treatment plants”, by professor Dai and professor Dohmann, exceeded all expectations with a total of 210 visitors. Session 2 “What can Europe offer to China in terms of water innovations” was also very well visited by an interested audience.
During the University Challenge China (UCC), 10 teams of students competed against each other and proved their skills and knowledge within two different tasks. During challenge 1, “IWRM – Integrated Water Resources Management”, infrastructure measures from water management, waste management and energy management had to be combined using DWA environment cards. During challenge 2, “Reporting”, the students had to demonstrate their skills in researching and gathering information at the fair, focusing on a fictitious employer. The accumulated knowledge had to be applied by writing a reporting with a pre-defined focus. The winning team of the challenge studies at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.
