EXPOTRAIN: Residual Management of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants

On demand

Residual Management of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants - Worldwide adaptable criteria according to German technical rules and standards is a strictly technical training about engineering principles, design methods and technical standards, the design of the anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge. Practice and exercise are part of the content.

The EXPOTRAIN concept works according to modern learning methods, thanks to extensive support by research and consultancies in the didactical development process of this training offer.

Learning Goals

The overall aim of the training is to enable participants to understand the generation, composition, and treatment options for residuals of municipal wastewater treatment plants.

MODULE A:
Residuals of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants

  • Participants have an overview of input residuals of WWTP and can assess the interaction of relevant influencing variables (input data parameters such as retention time, sludge age, organic matter and settling abilities/ quality of input data / technical rules) to estimate biogas potential.

MODULE B:
Process engineering principles for sludge treatment options

  • Participants understand the process engineering principles of the presented technologies and the structure dependencies for sludge treatment on the design of anaerobic sludge stabilization, identifying local sludge management options.

MODULE C:
Anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge

  • Participants understand the design procedure of anaerobic stabilization according to the relevant DWA regulations in addition to DWA, relating the procedure with a national context.

Target group

  • Water professionals from engineering offices
  • Municipal water operators, regulators and universities
  • Planning and designing engineers
  • Operating managers and technical decision makers in the field of wastewater

Pre qualification

  • Knowledge of national construction, design approaches
  • Active understanding of the English language
